Pediatric Chiropractic

Getting adjusted as a newborn/infant/toddler is just as important as getting adjustments when you are an adult. A commonly asked question we get from our current patients is do we adjust the newborn/infant/toddler the same way as we adjust them? The answer to that question is not exactly. The technique we use on newborn/infant/toddlers is a much more gentle technique. The similarity is that the newborn/infant/toddler still has the same healthy effects as the adult who gets adjusted. Due to the newborn/infant/toddlers growing state, we are able to use less pressure and force on them to make it a more comfortable visit for everyone.

The Most Important Times to take your Child to a Pediatric Doctor of Chiropractic:

  • Right after birth
  • Begins picking up their head
  • Starting to Sit Up
  • Starting to Crawling
  • Starting to Standing
  • Starting to Walk
  • Periodic Check Ups as the Child Grows to Insure Proper Spinal Hygiene

Here at Wise Chiropractic, Jon Wise, D.C., CACCP feels there is a growing need for primary health care providers who use natural methods which are safe, effective, and without side effects, especially for developing children. Dr. Jon Wise is one of two chiropractors certified in pediatrics here in Nevada. He finished his post-doctorate degree in pediatrics (C.A.C.C.P.) through the Academy of Family PracticeMany parents turn to chiropractic care for their children, especially after trying conventional medicine methods without seeing any results. Many more parents are bringing in their children soon after birth to have their spines checked; these babies are not sick! But, these parents realize that the birth process itself places stress on the developing spine. They don't want to wait until symptoms develop and there is a problem!

Today we find more parents bringing their children to Wise Chiropractic for day-to-day heath concerns we're all familiar with, such as: colds, sore throats, ear infections, fevers, colic, asthma, tonsillitis, allergies, bed-wetting, infections, pains, falls, stomach-aches, "growing pains", and the hundred and one little and big things children go through as they grow up.

Instead of using drugs, we work with children's bodies to help strengthen their nervous and immune systems. We are educated in the common ills of children and know how to use gentle chiropractic adjustments, eastern medical procedures and nutrition to help regain homeostasis - that fine line between well-being and dis-ease.

Dr. Jon Wise at Wise Chiropractic is a big advocate of preventative chiropractic care. You don't wait until you child's teeth are rotting before you take them in to the dentist, do you? So why should you wait until your child has an abnormal spinal curvature, earache, asthma, or allergies, before you take them in for a chiropractic check up? Prevention is always the key!

Because the nervous system controls and coordinates every function in the body, regular chiropractic care starting at birth (or preferably in utero!) absolutely helps children to grow up healthier and happier! Even "normal" births can cause trauma to the spine, especially the neck and cranium of the newborn. When forceps, vacuum extraction, or cesarean section are used, the trauma increases.

So do not delay any further, get your newborn/infant/toddler scheduled for an adjusted today. Dr. Wise will use a thermograph to show you the inflammation that may be coming of your child's spine.
